A clearer workflow

Tax return preparation, step by step.

01

Choose the right period

Select the preparation period that matches the work you are doing. Check your business details and accounting settings before reviewing the figures. A company accounting period and an individual tax year are different, so confirm the dates that apply to you.

02

Check your income and expenses

Review invoices, recorded payments, expense categories and supporting evidence. Resolve missing information and reconcile records before treating a summary as ready for tax review. The quality of the export depends on the information recorded in your workspace.

03

Export a preparation pack

The tax preparation workspace brings reports and supporting records into an exportable pack for review. Use it to organise information for your accountant or the relevant tax process. Check the contents and resolve any warnings before using the figures elsewhere.

04

Complete filing through the appropriate process

InvoiceKO does not submit a tax return to HMRC. For Self Assessment, Corporation Tax or VAT filing, check the official requirements for your circumstances and use the appropriate filing service or compatible software. A preparation pack is not proof that a return has been filed.

Getting started

  1. Confirm your business details and preparation period.
  2. Review income, expenses and supporting records.
  3. Check reports, estimates and preparation warnings.
  4. Export the pack for review before filing elsewhere.

Good to know

Your questions,
answered.

Is a preparation pack a filed tax return?

No. It is a set of records and summaries for review. Downloading a pack does not send a return to HMRC.

Can I share the export with my accountant?

You can download the preparation pack and provide it to your accountant for review. Ask them which records and additional information they need.

Does this handle a tax refund application?

No. InvoiceKO helps organise business records and preparation estimates. It does not apply for a tax refund or determine refund eligibility.
